El director del Museo Malvinas, Edgardo Esteban, destacó que el Mapa Federal de Memoriales de Malvinas permite “federalizar” la Causa Malvinas. A 41 años del conflicto bélico del Atlántico Sur, el Museo Malvinas e Islas del Atlántico Sur en colaboración con el Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) lanzó el Mapa Federal de Memoriales de Malvinas, una plataforma interactiva que permite ubicar memoriales, placas, sitios históricos y de interés sobre el archipiélago, y que, en palabras del excombatiente y director del Museo, Edgardo Esteban, es una herramienta para “profundizar el sentido de pertenencia por la Causa Malvinas”.
El trabajo de recopilación que comenzó en 2017 implicó la labor del equipo de investigación del Museo durante casi seis años en los que, pandemia mediante, se abocaron a reunir expresiones artísticas, culturales e históricas que trabajen la memoria sobre las Islas.
El director del Museo Malvinas e Islas del Atlántico Sur manifestó que “es un gran orgullo poder federalizar la Causa Malvinas” y resaltó que “representa un punto de encuentro para todos los argentinos”.
Vale mencionar que este proyecto contiene un valor adicional: en los días del conflicto, Esteban integró el Grupo de Artillería Aerotransportado Nº 4 que combatió en las Islas hasta el momento de la rendición, el 14 de junio de 1982.
La iniciativa encarada por el Museo y por el IGN contó con el respaldo de los excombatientes. En ese sentido, el presidente de la Federación Nacional de Veteranos de Guerra, Ramón López, señaló que la realización del mapa “ayuda a recordar que la muerte de los 649 compañeros no fue en vano”.
“Todo lo que se haga en ese sentido es bienvenido, la realización del mapa permite focalizar y trabajar en la memoria de algo que es desconocido para muchos, pero que es muy importante”, subrayó López.
La tarea de malvinizar cada rincón del territorio nacional, no resulta una empresa sencilla. Por ese motivo, el director del Museo remarca que “el mapa se encuentra en una constante actualización ya que todos los días aparecen memoriales, placas y sitios nuevos”.
El Mapa presenta no sólo monumentos sino también grafitis, pinturas, murales, museos, placas conmemorativas, altares, escuelas, plazas, monolitos, sitios históricos, y otras expresiones tanto públicas como privadas.
Las Islas trascienden a cualquier límite trazado en los mapas. En palabras de Esteban: “Malvinas es un punto de encuentro y un rescate de la memoria colectiva“.
