Luego, una entrevista radial lo puso frente a una de las editoriales más importantes del país, que le propuso el sueño de viralizar su historia. “Ya tenía repercusiones a nivel casero, pero ahora es a otra escala”, afirmó Miguel con una media sonrisa y los ojos vidriosos.

Lo que sucedió después no estaba en los planes de nadie.
“Faltaban unos 10 días para mi ansiada baja. Al fin se terminaba mi larga y aburrida colimba. Volvería a estudiar agronomía como lo había planeado, para continuar con mi vida interrumpida durante 14 meses, de una manera tan abrupta como inútil”, relata Savage en su libro.
Miguel, como muchos de los pibes de su edad, no tenía ningún tipo de conocimiento sobre el manejo de armas y la formación bélica que recibió durante su servicio militar fue prácticamente nula: “tampoco tenía alma de milico”, sentencia en las páginas de su historia.
“En ningún momento nos dijeron que nos iban a llevar a Malvinas. Pero nos decían que había que estar mentalizado para una guerra”. Al final, y de un día para el otro, le avisaron que debía partir.
La noche del 12 de junio se produjo el combate más encarnizado del conflicto bélico: la batalla de Monte Longdon. El cielo se iluminó de bengalas, munición trazadora y relámpagos de bayonetas y cuchillos. Se escuchaban gritos en español y en inglés. La verdadera guerra había estallado ante los ojos de Miguel. De los 300 efectivos que participaron del combate, solo 90 escaparon. El resto quedó muerto, herido o prisionero.
